CEP 800
Dream It ProjectThe focus in this assignment was to develop a grant proposal that presents how I would integrate new technologies to help student understanding within mathematics in a transformational way. This project takes a look at the flipped-mastery-gamification pedegogical approach with a new approach to transforming the design of the traditional classroom in order to increase collaboration and classroom community.

Webinar: Developing Information LiteracyAs a part of one of my MAET courses, we hosted a Webinar on Technology to assist learning I: Developing information literacy and technology skills in students. During this hour long session we discussed the implications of technology on teaching and also what it means to be a digital citizen.

Understanding UnderstandingWhat is The Cloud? How does it work? Are my files safe "up there"?
As part of the Master's of Educational Technology program at Michigan State University, we were asked to research a misconception and find the root of the misconception. Due to its name, many people are led to believe that their information is stored in an unknown location floating around wirelessly between devices. We took to the streets to see how much people know and how they learned about it. |
Final Portfolio Showcasing my WorkOne of my final projects was to create a portfolio of all of my work. It worked out really nicely that I was taking CEP 807 (my final capstone course) at the same time as the MAET cohort. I have already been working on my final portfolio so I was able to incorporate elements of my cohort into my capstone portfolio as well.

Other Assignments Completed
My Photo My SelfAs an intro to the course we had to walk around the MSU campus to find an image or two that represented us in some way. I chose to take a picture next to the construction workers as well as a group of students to show that learning is always under construction. There may be a slow road ahead or some construction taking place, but every student has their own path to take.

Instuctosauruses Group PosterThis poster was created for our group name. I think it is pretty creative :)

Behaviorism ApproachThe language learning app and website called Duolingo for iPad and iPhone offer many types of behavioralist approaches. It includes the use of prompting, rewards, positive reinforcement, and many other aspects. We created this video using Sock Puppets (an app) to show how Duolingo can be very helpful and motivating for students.

Demotivational PosterThis project was a very fun project to complete because we basically did the opposite of what you'd think - we created a DEmotivational poster. This clearly would not push students to have a growth mindset...

Physics Video |
I-images |
This video shows some of the misconceptions that we as humans have with the laws of physics. Before completing this experiment many people said that the ball would land behind when you are running and walking. Although we didn't really disprove this correct/incorrect, physics says that the ball SHOULD land at the same point as the person each time.

These images represent how design and math can go hand in hand. As educators we need to make learning and content BEAUTIFUL! Using a design eye we can focus on some different areas to appeal to students eyes and then to their minds.

Confronting Misconceptions |
Representing Tensions |
This video was put together to confront some of the misconceptions that students have about math. Constantly I have students asking me "When will I EVER have to use this?". This video seeks to show students that math really is EVERYWHERE!

This photo represents the tensions that educators have with technology. There are few educators out there that have a growth mindset and will allow themselves to go from the ideate stage all the way to the testing stage. This conflicts with other educators that constantly stay in the fixed-mindset stage.
